Änderungen bei .com/.net Domains im Robot/en

Changes for .com/.net Domains in Robot

We are updating central parts of our Domain Robot to make it even more flexible in the future for customers to use. These updates, which will become effective on 19 July 2016, will involve some changes to .com and .net domains, and we would like to clarify these changes for you.

Contact information verification

In the future, when you use a newly created handle for .com or .net domains for the first time with a domain, an e-mail will be sent to the address you provide for that handle. This e-mail will include a link
where you can verify your contact information. If you do not click on this link within 15 days, the domain will be locked and will no longer be accessible.

This will apply to both already existing and newly registered domains. In addition, domains that are transferred to Hetzner Online with handles that have not yet been verified will be affected.

Handles that already exist in Robot do not require any further verification.

Consent to release domains for transfer

In the future, when you start a .com or .net domain transfer, an e-mail will be sent to the current domain owner. The transfer can only start once the domain owner has actually given consent to release the domain for transfer.

Why is Hetzner Online implementing the new verification process described above?

Hetzner Online is complying with guidelines from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) by verifying contact information and the domain release for transfer.

What do the e-mails look like that ask for verification of the contact information and for confirmation of the domain release? The domain emailverification.info will be used both as the verification link and as the From address. Please note that these e-mails, with our resellers in mind, bear no relation to Hetzner Online.

How can a locked domain be reactivated?

If you still have the e-mail with the verification link, you can still use this link after the 15-day deadline to verify your contact information, and by doing this, the domain will be unlocked. If you no longer have the e-mail, you can write Hetzner Online a support request and ask us to send it to you again.

Do I really have to verify each new handle?

Yes, with one exception. If you want to use an e-mail address in a new handle, and this e-mail address is already being used in another handle that has already been verified, then the new handle will be verified automatically.

What will happen to the handles that I already have in Robot?

Handles that already exist in Robot do not require any further verification.
