Cancellations for Robot customers

If you are a customer who uses the Robot administration interface, you can use our automated process to cancel your server via your Robot account. Find the product you would like to cancel under the product categories at "Main functions" on the left. [Select the specific server, product, or service.] Under the "Cancellation" menu tab, you can see the earliest possible cancellation date or select another date of your choice. Confirm the cancellation to finish the process. [You should then see a new entry under the "Notices of cancellation" tab.]

Dedicated root servers, vServers in the CX line, Storage Boxes & IP addresses

If you would like to cancel your contract as soon as possible for your dedicated root server, vServers from the CX line, Storage Boxes, or IP addresses, you can do this via your Robot account. Just follow the steps above.

You will see the earliest possible cancellation date under the "Cancellation" tab for the product. This date changes depending upon when you made your first payment for the product. You can cancel your contract effective on this date or any after it until you receive your next invoice. After that, the earliest possible cancellation date will become the end of the next billing period.

If you have multiple products, these products may have different billing periods, and therefore different last dates in their billing periods. In addition, with some products, the last date of the billing period may be different from the date when you receive the last invoice. We understand that this may be a bit confusing. That is why we create a monthly invoice for all product for each customer. You can view the date that you will receive your next invoice by going to your Hetzner Account and to "Invoices" and "Overview".

Example: You have a dedicated root server that you would like to cancel as soon as possible.

Scenario 1: It is 20 July. You have paid for the server up until 23 July. You will get your next invoice on 28 July. The earliest possible cancellation date for your contract is 23 July. You can also cancel your server and choose the date of July 24, 25, 26, or 27. But starting on July 28 (when the next invoice comes), the earliest possible cancellation date becomes 23 August.

Scenario 2: It is 24 July. You have paid for the server up until 23 July. You will receive your next invoice on 28 July. You can cancel your contract immediately since "today" is between July 23rd and 28th. But starting on July 28 (when the next invoice comes), the earliest possible cancellation date becomes 23 August.

Domains

The contracts for our domains have a cancellation period that is 30 days to the end of the month. You can find an explanation for what "30 days to the end of the month" means here.

Exception: If you have a domain that ends in .de, .com, or .net, you can cancel your domain contract at any time via your Robot account; you can also cancel them effective immediately.

WARNING: To cancel some domains, you will need an authorization code (auth-code) if you would like to move your domain to another provider. Now let's imagine that you have a server and a domain on that server. You cancel the server, but you do NOT request that we transfer the domain to another provider. We will then assume that you want to KEEP the domain, and we will send you an invoice for it as usual.

Licenses

The earliest possible cancellation date for license contracts is at the end of the billing month.

Example 1: It is 23 July. You have paid for your license up until 2 August. The earliest possible cancellation date is 31 August. [We will still invoice you for the month of August.]

Example 2: It is 23 July. You have paid for your license up until 30 July. The earliest possible cancellation date is 31 July.

DNS entries

You can cancel all DNS entries via Robot at any time, and you can cancel them effective immediately.

Colocation

If you are a colocation customer, you can cancel your contract by writing us a support request via your Robot account. The cancellation periods and policies are the same as for our dedicated root servers. (See here).

Additional hardware

If you have ordered any additional hardware for your server, you can cancel it by writing a support request via your Robot account. The soonest possible cancellation date for additional hardware is always the last day of the month. If it is 20 July, and you send a cancellation request, it will become effective on 31 July and we will invoice you for it until 31 July. The same is true if today is July 30. The cancellation will take effect the next day.

Cancellations for Cloud customers

Cloud Servers, Snapshots, Backups, Volumes, Networks & Floating IPs

You can automatically and immediately cancel your contract for your Cloud Servers, Snapshots, Backups, Volumes, Networks, and Floating IPs. To do this, log into your account on Cloud Console. Then find the server or product that you would like to cancel and click on "Delete".

Once you confirm the cancellation and finish the quick cancellation process, your server will be deleted and your contract for that product will be cancelled. However, your user account will remain active. Since we invoice Cloud Servers on an hourly basis, you will receive an invoice AFTER you have successfully cancelled your server. We will only invoice you for the part of the the billing period when your server still existed.
